Although I passed my ESOL test, very little of the information in this book was actually on the test. I read the book cover to cover and made a 2-inch thick stack of flash cards using it. I proceeded to memorize every single flash card and I took the practice test several times. I felt very confident going into the test. However, during the test I felt like I was blindly guessing on nearly 2/3 of the test questions. When I received my unofficial "pass" score after the test, I was legitimately surprised as I was sure I tanked. This book, although filled with ESOL theories and approaches, was not very closely aligned to the test questions on the actual exam. There were terms on the test that were never even mentioned in the book. This book was not worth the money.Product details

I read the book from the beginning to the end. I practiced with the test and answers that are in the book, and I wasted my time. This is the first FTCE that I do not pass.
I'm still reading but as far is a great source for the test.

Totally helpful ~ especially when one looks at the slim pickings in this field of ESOL and at the other major book available.
This book is concise and has NO GRAMMATICAL ERRORS...which seems like it should go without saying but ....apparently not.
One note, if you have this book still research major topics / theorems online to ensure you get ALL the information.
I find that the information included in the book is simple and succinct. I believe it will definitely help me be prepared for the exam. I am currently finishing up one of my required courses, and it’s great to find the information in this study guide.
This book is terribly organized. ** NOT FOR THE BEGINNER** Just random Headings and Subheadings that make no sense if you have no background knowledge of Literacy components, ESL/TESOL/TEFL, etc. Basically, you need some sort of Teaching Pedagogy to be able to decipher and understand the concepts.
